Progress Update: The project wiki can now be accessed here on the ACODE website. About half of the interviews have been completed with primary contacts in universities that are active in media management system decision making or implementation. It is hoped that these will be concluded shortly.
- A Guidelines publication ‘Guide’ will provide a better understanding of the design principles and strategies for utilising digital technologies to support best practice in professional association and network engagement. The principles and strategies will be framed by contemporary literature on sustaining and engaging digital communities. The Guide will detail appropriate technologies and requirements for an effective web presence including appropriate social networking tools. The Guide will also provide recommendations for engagement activities and communication strategies.
- Dissemination through NATA networks of the findings and documentation resulting from the ascilite initiative and access to exemplars of communication structures that could be used by other professional associations and networks.

Progress Update: The research component of this project has been completed and the final phase of drafting the guidelines based on the research findings is underway. It is intended that these guidelines will be launched at the ascilite conference in Dunedin this year (2014).
Project Title: Social Media as a communication strategy: Connecting Leaders of Australian University Academic Development Units through the medium of Social Media to harness the wisdom of the network and enhance knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas.
- An online professional development tool kit for network members on how to engage with and incorporate a range of social media tools to enhance professional connectivity. Project Title: Proposed HERDSA Guide: Leading Academic Networks
Aim: This project aimed to develop a publication which offers practical guidance to both networks and their leaders as to how to step into leadership roles with confidence. The guide explores strategic, relational, governance, and engagement issues, speaking directly to the leader. It is a useful evaluative tool for any network, and can assist in benchmarking networking practices. Of particular value is the consideration of the use of social media as communication tools for the savvy network leader.
